The end of AZ is nigh?

No more Anonymous posting on the Internets? That's the vision of Kentucky Hillbilly and U.S. Rep. Tim Couch:

Lawmaker: Criminalize Anonymous Internet Posts

If a bill like this passes, it would pretty much render this blog obsolete...as 90% of the informants are Anonymous.

I wonder if Dambala counts as a valid identity? The very premise of AZ was based on anonymity in order to air out corruption issues.

The days of the internet as a 1st amendment megaphone may be coming to an end...and da zombie along with it.

Update: The ever vigilant KamaAina pointed out that Couch is actually a Kentucky State Rep. Phew. my bad.

Has the FBI actually done an investigation on Nagin and Meffert and given that whole thing a clean bill of health? What about the garbage contract? S&WB? Is that official? If it's true, I guess more things must be legal than I thought. Are we just going to have to accept that this was all the result of incompetence? They are in the clear because they were doing what was expected of government officials doing "business?" I certainly hope there will be more investigation, I can't believe there isn't more to find....

yeah and he stole the crime contract program ( only part of it, everything Meffert says it does + more because I wouldn't tell Kurt all of it)from me ( when I emailed him and NRobino on september 18, 2006 ) to give to Meffert, who is now marketing it through Logistix co. I have already contacted the mayors office of Technology, the New Orleans Legal Department, The FBI , and the us attorney generals office, the attorney Generals office, the Inspector General and

yes..Meffert brought them in as the IT contractor then they turned right around and subcontracted Kurt , St. Pierre and crew. Meffert had credit cards under Imagine's account and was spending like a drunken sailor on them. This was, of course, illegal as he was the one that awarded Ciber the contract. Kurt got busted stealing the crime camera contract and was forced to resign as CTO. Ciber in turn hired him as compensation for kicking so much money back to them.

I have emailed over 100 senators, bill walsh your staff reporter, spoken with steve DeBlasio and many other people trying to get this to you. I have a designed a program that would make you shine like new money. i would appreciate if I could at least get a call from your or you designee to move forward on this idea. BTW one facet of my proposal is pre-registration, although if not implemented properly it will just spread corruption and add to the problems, please give me a call. thanking you in advance.

we can get this program up and running within six months

this is the program I have spoken to your office about previously, we are trying to locate federal grants to move forward with this as soon as possible for the good of the general public. Please assist us any way you can, most of the grant programs are for local, state, and federal agencies, or at least cooperative efforts between these agencies and private enterprise. so we are seeking the backing of St. Bernard Parish council, and everyone else including your office and the state DHS.

Please we are asking your office to support our program as a feasible solution and assist us in attaining the proper funding, please remember this is for the greater good of the general public.

On another note this idea solves the current issues with the Stafford act of privacy, This allows the applicant to decide what level of privacy they in fact wish to attain.

as a side note, it will also aloow mechanisms to be brought into play along the lines of safety concerning the general public. we could also provide the DOJ,FBI with forwarding addresses of "threats to the general public" such as murderers , rapists or other serious

threats ( crimes to the person, of a felonious nature). of course if this causes any problems we can simply disclude this from our program.

THIS IS A MORE RECENT EDITION OF THE INFORMATION I SENT YOU, HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BETTER EXPLAIN HOW A UNIFIED DATA ENTRY PORTAL WILL WORK. LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU.

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This e-mail message is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material. Any unauthorized review, use, disclosure or distribution is prohibited. If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by reply e-mail and destroy all copies of the original message. If you are the intended recipient but do not wish to receive communications through this medium, please so advise the sender immediately.

And it was eventually turned in for a RFP/BAA for the DHS:

Solicitation: BAA 06-02
Titled: BAA06-02 Unified Incident Command and Decision Support

Disaster housing solutions

BAA 06-02 UICDS

PROJECT SUMMARY OBJECTIVES

(1) To ensure the United States national preparedness goals are compliant

(2) Develop sustainable solutions and effective tools to assist State and Local Jurisdictions in building capabilities that address their areas of greatest need including response to hurricanes along the gulf coast, mechanisms of response to a Terrorist threat, biological or environmental threat and support overall achievement of the National Preparedness Goal.

1. Input data of potential disaster victims into proprietary software and computer programs.

2. Data is mirrored and mined into effective processes,To ensure this critical information is provided to on scene responders.
3. Verification processes ensure effective, efficient, collaboration.
4. Real time data mining to ensure all individuals that are in need have a solution in a timely manner
5. Real time data changing Geodynamic intelligent solutions.
6. Cross dimensional resolution to fulfill needs of all victims within 48 hours.
7. Post disaster follow up via proprietary management tools
8. Resolution and conflict services for victims regarding claims and other life issues
9. to organize and control a national Unified database from which all pertinent information can be accessed.

11. To design a “living” Database that will ELIMINATE duplicity and fraud.
12. To incorporate all available technology that can be upgraded in the future using “common” items.
13. we propose a multi layered, multi- faceted response starting with:

A) PREPAREDNESS: An innovative reporting method, that allows the “end user” to decide what level of privacy they want, each state EOC needs capabilities to talk to others.

B) RESPONSE: utilizing leading edge technology, helmet cams, GPS Beacons on responders, Satellite feeds

C) RECOVERY: tracking ALL persons and equipment using Master modules and computer chips in Radios, cell phones , license plates

14. utilizing this Database in Non- emergency times we could deter most crime .
15. Strategic placement will allow us to monitor our borders at ALL times, using thermal vision cameras with motion detectors as switches.
16. Take the threat out of terrorism, after all we could track them at all times, actually watching where they go and who they meet up with.
17. Provide real time views of the scene before during and after, by using cameras to gather information constantly being overwritten unless there is an incident then the data could be retrieved and stored for future study.
18. provide NOAA and any other pertinent agencies access to the information gathering system, the master modules which will also have weather stations built in.

Tim Couch (the mook, not the QB) is a Ky. state rep, not a Congressman.

http://www.lrc.ky.gov/legislator/H090.htm

So unless the Ky. legislature can pass a law affecting even expat Kentuckian bloggers, or all Net raffic is suddenly routed through a giant server farm in Paducah, you're probably safe.
