Oh boy

Allegations of corruption within our anti-corruption office. Could this city get any more absurd?

New Orleans inspector general's office in turmoil

I'm still waiting to find out how Cerasoli buying computers for his office is considered "extravagant".

Yeah man...you IG guys should be using manual typewriters...and not electric because then we'll have to pay for the electricity. Better yet, just write your reports on papyrus and use your own blood as ink.

I smell a rat....correction, I smell rats and moles. I smell an attempt to undermine the credibility of the IG office, by forces within the office and outside the office. Forces who know its not in their best interest to have an IG office.

I also smell dinner...be back later.

Un-frigging believable!!! Reminds me of my sister's and my fights. When she would was caught doing things Mom said not to do, she would bring up all the things I neglected - over the last year. Her tactic was, if Mom got mad enough, we all would be in trouble. And, hopefully, mom would be madder at me than at her.

Why did the airport, NORD, police monitor, inspector general, and other directors all quit their job within 1 week? Something is happening behind the wizard's curtains. Wonder what it is???? And, why is it so quiet anyway???

OMG, was that the timing? Did everyone quit within a week?

I thought I was paying attention.

Buying computers for your office is not extravagent. Buying 50 computers all at once when you have a staff of approximately 18 and letting them sit for a year or more....you be the judge.

jumping ship before April I would bet. Or maybe something more sinister is on the horizon.

on the computers - over half-a-million on machines for a small department seems a bit high. i read he had 33 people, and he wanted a pc and laptop for each. lets figure a total of $5,000 each. 33x5000 = $165,000.

ignore for the moment one doesnt need both a laptop AND a desktop. one could use a docking bay for the laptop. much easier to manage.

ok so round up to 200k. not that leaves $400,000 on "severs and kiosks". figure a generous 10k each for kiosks. what 5 of em? so thats $50,000, leaving 350k for servers.

thats a fortune. they would have more computing power than the entire city hall data center at $350,000.

so, yeah, it does seem a bit high.

as for everyone quitting: to me its just more proof that this is a rudderless ship, floating aimless amongst rough seas...

no leadership from the top (nagin) trickles down to all the departments.

its chaos. and it aint gonna stop..

so let me guess...those computers were Dells?

I heard Cerasoli ordered computers because he wanted his computers to be safe from the people they were investigating. He wanted untampered with computers, and he got opened boxes, so he send them back and got new ones that seemed still secure. That strikes me as reasonable.

The numbers do seem high, and I agree that both laptops and desktops seems like overkill. I wonder if the high numbers and the extra purchases were Cerasoli or if, like the departmental cars, odious Odom was responsible.

Either way, it appears that the people crying that the office was corrupted from the beginning are probably right. The pisser is that they could very well be the ones who corrupted that office.

Were the computers Dells? That would be hilarious and enraging.

We could make the IG's job really easy. Someone should just point out that the good people have quit by now.

The only ones left at City Hall are either involved in the criminality or so numb they just do not care what happens.

That "something" that's going on is the exodus to the doors that occurs at the end of any administration.

well as for Dells - nothing to unusual. dell is on the state's approved equipment list, which trickles down to the municipalities. you want to buy pcs in the state, youre more than likely gonna get Dells right now.

this will stand until another pc vendor has better offerings.

nothing sinister.

no I wasn't suggesting that there is anything sinister about buying Dell. I was just noting that because of their involvement in the crime camera case.
