Damn James...don't mince words

I love how James is going for it to get attention. This might go down as a classic political ad that breaks new ground. At first, the way the TP described it, I thought there might be some gang bangers cursing but the actors look like they could be my friends.
Great job, James, I'll consider you.

not sure which is scarier, James or David in this youtube clip

frightening to say the least.

one is talking thug and the other doesn't even know who Loving v. Virginia was or was about...DUH!

That's embarrassing and comes across as desperate.

It comes across as immature.

Swearing for shock value is a hot thing to do in junior high. Once you're grown, who cares if you were an Eagle Scout?

I like some of Perry's ideas; he's an interesting candidate, and maybe a better human being than some others running.

The ad was not a great play. In addition to nixing the swearing in future, someone should be helping him to pick better fonts.

I will agree with you on the font...it looks like it's an airbrushed T-shirt from Destin.

You guys can't be serious? Sadly, Perry's ad is a desperate atttempt to make up for time and resources squandered over the last several months. And, while I might blurt out the same expletives when thinking about the candidates, this important election, and the voters of New Orleans, deserve more thoughtful and respectful discourse from candidates, however blunt. We are after all the employers of the mayor, and who would gratuitously use such language when speaking with their boss, at least in most professional organizations.

James Perry's campaign has kind of let me down. I had high hopes, but other than some social networking and campaigning via the web in a community with poor internet penetration, I haven't seen much in the way of building support out there. I haven't seen him at many events, no heard from anyone who has run across him in the streets anywhere. What's he been doing, in terms of campaigning since early this year?

I like the motivation.

I like the effort.

But the cursing is dumb. This just makes me think 'knucklehead time in City Hall, one more time."

I've liked Perry's earnestness before, but no, it's just amateur hour with him. Maybe Henry or Jacobs will whet the appetite.

Mincing is Precisely what he did with words, though I see it as more Mensching. He certainly mangled the message.

mince (mns)
v. minced, minc·ing, minc·es
v.tr.
1.
a. To cut or chop into very small pieces.
b. To subdivide (land, for example) into minute parts.
2. To pronounce in an affected way, as with studied elegance and refinement.
3. To moderate or restrain (words) for the sake of politeness and decorum; euphemize:

I'm for euphemization here, at the very least a pre-frontal lobotomy.

I don't know why the voters are supposed to be so mad at the candidates--even if they seem rather uninformed and underqualified. That kind of anger is more what I aim at elected officials. Anyone who mentions that they were an Eagle Scout in a tv campaign ad seems to really need resume writing help.

re: Eagle Scout. while this may not be something to put in your single dirty-mouthed ad, being an Eagle Scout *is* of importance beyond youth.

getting to be an eagle scout isnt a matter of sticking to the program for 6 or 7 years. to become an eagle scout you have to really believe in what youre doing..of fundamental goodness*. of planning, orchestrating, and implementing large projects geared for the betterment of society. its not about basket weaving.

yeah, im an eagle scout. and i wish there were more of us.

* the "fundamental goodness" of scouting has been tarnished in recent decades, however, by the Conservative Right who have taken over scouting. mormons. the anti-gay stuff, the anti-atheism etc.. none of this was fundamental to scouting until they took over.

Penn & Teller did a good episode of Bullshit! on it. stream it on Netflix; S4E1.

Hands down here, bra ;)

I make my monies the old fashioned way: Craig's Lists.

A Scout is Helpful, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent --and a Filthy Potty F-U-C-K Mouth [latter added to the Philmont Nat Scout Council '84 after they decided that Scouts should be allowed to say Fuck, or Jeff, as long as they aren't gay about it.]

I like Perry and do agree with Anon though in hoping James Perry broke ground for some badder (like John Lee Hooker bad) political ads. Right now what he did is one of a kind, right up there with the live-girl-dead-boy schtick. Politics used to almost seem like a contact sport in New Orleans.
Anyway, who wants to take bets on when Leslie Jacobs goes on Okrah?

And I shit you not, your Word Verification Thingy WVT for this comment is: "purrest"!
"Purrest"???
What the Jesus Fucking Mary Pussy Hell is This?
Purrest...yikes.
Enjoy Neko, you purrest bastad.

Amusing ad. Doesn't make up for the fact that Perry's not very smart. With that said, his competition is even stupider (hard to believe, but true!). Just check the "Youth Study Center" gaffe by the other candidates. Perry did know that is was a jail, but he muffed the name, calling it "Youth Studies Center" - you might think that a minor quibble, but it's indicative of his general sloppiness; or slob-ness, as the case may be.
