LOSCO...ever heard of 'em?

Well maybe you should get to know them.  They are a state entity...well funded state entity...whose job it was to help companies prevent oil spills off Louisiana's coastline and "serve as the single point of contact for all programs related to oil spills in Louisiana".

Is LA oil spill research a "rigged game"?

Love that list of names and backgrounds:

Dan Allen, ChevronTexaco
Kent Satterlee III, Shell Exploration & Production Co. (SEPCo)
Dr. William Campbell, Graduate Studies & Research/Applied & Natural Science, Louisiana Tech University
Harold “Rusty” Wright, Minerals Management Service (MMS)
Chris Piehler, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality
Jim Hanifen, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
Richard F. Stanek, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Coastal Management Division
Rob Yarbrough, Emergency Response Coordinator, ConocoPhilips
Barry Joffrion, Placid Refining Company LLC
Roland Guidry, (chairman) Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office/Office of the Governor

Proposal review board...

Derald Chriss, Department of Chemistry, Southern University
David Fritz, British Petroleum
Mark Davis, Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana
J. E. Myers, ChevronTexaco
Dr. Maud Walsh, Department of Agronomy, LSU AgCenter
Dr. Anita George-Ares, Exxon Mobil Biomedical Science
Dr. Albert Venosa, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Roland Guidry, (chairman) Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office/Office of the Governor

slush, slush, slushity-slush-slush....slush, shlush....

That's the sound oil makes when it washes on the shores of the Gret Stet and washes over the "official state" regulatory bodies with well meaning mission statements.

Guidry?

That's a familier last name.

Is there some sort of family tree available?

Oh, yeah, and funny how I read that a couple of times, and it took me a third time to be anything more than "yadda, yadda, yadda" about all those foxes guarding the henhouse.

Cynicism sucks.

Guidry is a very common name in SE Louisiana. So is Landry.

Sure, Landrieu is a pretty common name, too. But the political ones are all related.

I was just interested in how the political Guidrys connected to one another. Some seem to be solid, others not so much.

Even if they were siblings, I don't know that I'd blame one for the conduct of another.

I just wondered if they were related.

Yeah, I apologize, I didn't mean to be dismissive.

I don't know if there is any connections there, I should find out.

And I agree totally that siblings or relatives shouldn't be judged for each others' actions. That ain't right.

If Cynicism sucks you should quit bitching, huh?
