Ray Nagin is focus of federal grand jury probe
And that tops off every single snake in the 2009 sneaky snake countdown.
Now I have to make a new one. In fact, I've been working on it for weeks. The 2012 Sneaky Snake countdown is on deck...stay tuned....new dirt will be revealed.
By the way...I broke much of this story. Yes...I did. May 2007. MSM can discredit and ignore me all they want....check the dates on the stories and the blog posts. I know that sounds petty but I'm rather tired of being ignored.
Somebody owes me a drink...I don't care who...it's time to celebrate, peeps.

I don't think your buddy Mr. Ellis is sleeping well tonight.
How perceptive...more to come there.
You the man Jason. :-)
I'll buy you a drink on the 18th.

any time you wanna hit Bar Tonnique...
Thanks for all you've done!
Ashe,
I understand your frustration re: not getting credit. But FWIW, I see it differently; I see AZ as providing a crucial part of the overall media watchdog function that didn't exist a few years ago.
While you do turn up many critical new stories and leads through a combination of your hard work and the crowdsourcing effect of the comments section, you also have the luxury of being unsourced (or even flat out wrong, though I can't off the top of my head remember when that has happened).
This is critical, because in general if an MSM reporter can't source his story it can't run - and therefore he's not producing anything. If he's flat out wrong, it could be career-damaging. So they're incented to take fewer risks and focus on chasing down the most promising stories.
I'm completely convinced that having a resource like AZ producing "qualified leads" results in the MSM chasing down stories that otherwise might get ignored as impractical to pursue. This leads to more exposure and a better watchdog function.
And that's huge, man. You're doing great things for the city. That's what this blog is all about, right?
Excellent work. Keep it up and keep the roaches running.
To steal sop's words...YOU da man!!
Dambala's sources have for the most part all been spot on and there are times he gets info he doesn't publish. His blog provides a huge service to our region because no one wants their names listed on this website because once they are listed the Feds are all over it. It's not just the MSM who get information from Dambala its the people who are prosecuting these cases as well.
Thanks again Jason for all you do.
Oh, you cannot imagine the happy dance I am doing right now!
Congratulations!
Dude, the MSM media may not credit you, but your reading, commenting public-- still reading, and still commenting, even with the concerns about hacking-- sure as hell does.
And BRAVO and HUZZAH and THANK YOU to Missus Zombie and the Zom-bambinis for letting you devote so much of your time and passion to this effort. Big props to your family, man.
I'm so happy, I am taking up a chant, right here in front of my computer; I just got a funny look from someone who is wondering what the heck is going on. Here is my chant:
"More to Come! More to Come! More to Come!"
You are one hell of an unofficial, overlooked, ALWAYS read badass, AZ!
Oh, I forgot: Thank you to everyone who has ever posted a useful tip.
Those comment threads became the basis for the posts themselves, after some research and checking, on a number of important topics.
It is cool how so many little pieces of information crowd sourced from available public records and water cooler watering hole observations turned out to be useful and accurate.
No matter what the anger or outrage level, people always seem to be trying to put the pieces together for true.
Even the confused questions, not after all relevant information, or outright speculations on this blog seem to be offered with a genuine desire to get it right, as well as to see good triumph over evil.
Thanks to the real tipsters with better information and more cloak and dagger moves than posting blog comments, also.

And that is the proverbial thorn in my side. I don't mind being wrong or even told I'm wrong. I do mind being completely discredited as "unreliable" and "purely speculative" by pundits...not journalists. If you only knew what I know after doing this for 5 years.
You take it on the chin for everyone with a little bit of unsubstantiated information and a WHOLE lot of questions.
Who needs pundits when you've got fans?
I'll get you a drink but I don't know if you can enjoy it since your stomach is all pelvis!
