Hellooo!! Is anybody in there?!!?

I wrote a very heartfelt and thoughtful email to Senator David Vitter about The Senate Free Flow of Information ACT 2013 asking him to oppose Senator Feinstein's plans to exclude bloggers from First Amendment rights.

Here is the response I received:

Dear Mr. Berry,

Thank you for contacting me to voice your opposition to new gun control laws in response to the recent tragic mass shootings. I appreciate hearing your views, and I agree with you.

As we continue to heal and move forward as a nation, I believe our focus should be on reducing violence.  While many policy makers often respond to tragic events like these by proposing new laws and regulations that restrict gun ownership, I do not agree that is the best path forward.  Some of the legislation that has recently been considered by the Senate,  such as a ban on assault weapons, a universal gun registry, limitations on magazine capacity, and stringent background checks will place additional, burdensome restrictions on law-abiding gun owners but will do little to curb violence by criminals, who by definition do not abide by the law.

Instead, I think we should look for ways to increase the safety of our schools and keep guns out of the hands of those who are mentally incapable of owning them responsibly.  We should also focus on enforcing existing laws and stopping criminals who obtain and use guns illegally.  According to data from the Department of Justice, weapons prosecutions have declined to the lowest levels since January 2001.  This trend must be reversed, as the threat of prosecution creates a strong deterrent to criminal activity.  Moreover, if the laws that are already on the books are not being enforced to their fullest extent, I cannot see the sense in supporting more stringent laws to address the same problem.  Rest assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as I continue to work to uphold the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the rights guaranteed to us by it.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about other issues important to you and your family.

The answer to your question is the response you received: Diaper Dave is THERE in Washington !!! Dumbass ideologues like Vitter don't read, they preach. Thank you Harvard for putting out yet another token Louisiana jackass politician. Your letter was probably passed on to some staff person who changes Vitter's diaper and who can only read the diarrhea bullshit Vitter smears. Vitter is an abominable individual and a disgrace to this State and Country. Disgusting is what it is, just downright disgusting.
