My fellow zombies....

Hey there's a new American Idol!!! I don't know who it is...but wow!!!!

And Paris is going to Jail!!!

And Britney grew hair back on her head...but I think her kooch is still bald!!!

Oh yeah....and there's this boring little law called the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive which was passed into legislation on May 9th (Without the approval of Congress) which supercedes the National Emergency Act and re-constitutes the mandates of martial law:

What does the bill change? In the event of a "national emergency" which of course would be defined by the executive branch....the President can incorporate martial law and bypass all levels of government from Congress down to "tribal" levels. The previous law which mandated such a scenario was the National Emergency Act, passed in 1976, which gave Congress oversight of the Executive Branch and allowed them to retract such dictatorial authority if they deemed it unnecessary.

The National Emergency Act allowed the Executive Branch to rescind habeas corpus and the right to a Grand Jury for members of the National Gaurd. We already threw habeas corpus out the window anyway...so maybe this legislation isn't really all that big a deal, huh?

Gee whiz....that sounds like Bush could seize control of the entire country at his discretion with no oversight as to when that control would end....all we'd need is a "national emergency".....let's hope we don't get one of those anytime soon.

Now what was that prophecy Jim Garrison made??

And just who will this "single National Continuity Coordinator" (i.e. dictator) be? I hear Wolfowitz is available...

Whoops! Next time I'll read the whole bill first, just like our Senators do... oh, wait...

"In order to advise and assist the President in that function, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism (APHS/CT) is hereby designated as the National Continuity Coordinator."

That'd be Frances Fragos Townsend:

unless, as mentioned on Wiki, she winds up replacing Gonzales as AG... in which case the position is open...
