Forget the March on Crime...

How about the "March on Nagin"?

Our Feckless Mayor

No Transparency, No Recovery

In hindsight, I think the reason the March on Crime didn't effect real change, was because no heads rolled. If there was ever a time to roll out the metaphorical guillotine, it's now. The longer our asswipe mayor stays in office the worse it's going to get. The Gambit's comparison of Nagin to Bush is right on in more ways than one:

Unfortunately, the mayor is borrowing a page from his post-Katrina "bud," President George W. Bush, who famously said, "You are either with us, or you're with the terrorists." Nagin's version of that is, "You are either with us, or you're hurting the recovery."

The biggest mistake this country has made in the past eight years was not "Putting the Idiot back in office", but failing to impeach him for the crimes and incompetence of his tenure. I've heard many people respond to Nagin's CRIMES (yes crimes) and incompetence with the remark, "He'll be gone in 2010." That attitude, to me....is pathetic. I hope we're not stupid enough to make the same mistake the country has....it is important to act now and set a precedent in this city that "playing the game, brah..." isn't going to cut it anymore.

We need to send a message to any future political candidates that the game has changed. We need to send that message now...with Nagin. A recall may not be a realistic option....but a public hellstorm is. I say we march and demand his resignation.

I have drawn the ire of a few NOLA bloggers (I admit that I agree with Cliff). Even if Nagin isn't a criminal, he is a buffoon who is destroying any good will that New Orleans may have had with the rest of the country. Even if no crime has been committed, he should be recalled. If this is not feasible, he should be embarrassed enough by the current NOAH scandal to step down and give someone with an interest in New Orleans' success a chance. Hubris has been the fall of many great men than he.

I would completely support a Nagin recall effort. From this distance, I would happily help fund that campaign. HE MUST GO--AND NEVER RETURN....
