is it just me?

or has anyone else noticed an eerie calmness has settled in on the N.O. blogosphere?

I was thinking the same thing this morning. Guess everything eventually runs its course.

Uh, Jazz Fest, NFL draft, Hornets games, other fests, awesome weather, I just thought everyone was out and about and when not taking it easy. Hey, man, y'all work hard, ya need a break every so often, right???

I think everyone took today off, i-10 was a breeze at 6pm, never seen it that empty unless it was after an evacuation.

I think the blog is slow because everyone is waiting for the next spinning plate to drop. We don't all have dambala sources and frankly, I bet having access to D.L can increase frustration not relieve it.

So no new topics:

Specter deciding to come out of the closet and admit he's been a democrat all these years and just can't hide it anymore.

What about educating a newbie about the causeway commission, anyone have the real story on that seemingly blatant scam? However, it does keep up the causeway very well and those cops are little nazis, which I don't mind when I'm travelling across it - keeps everyone safe.

I don't know about anyone else but all our murder and government malfeasance has me beat down to the point I'm numb. I'm sitting on the sideline trying to get my second wind so I can jump back in the brawl.

No, it's not just you. It's going on four years here. Lotsa shit has come down the pike. People are not as involved as they were in the issues of the day. Fatigue and a certain despair has set in. We're tired, man, and we're largely stepping away from the blogging, or becoming less intense about the same ol' issues.

In other words, life happens where blogging lets off.

S,

I tend to shy away from the causeway and Jeff parish in general. I don't know a whole lot about St. Tammany and even Jeff Parish politics.

Has blogging fallen off, or just blogging at defined by Dambala or E? I stepped away from that probably a year or more ago now. I don't post as often as I should, but the last time I wrote about an "issue" (the mayor, if I recall) was a good year ago.

I thinks its the realization that there will not be some miraculous transubstantiaion of New Orleans. Rebirth means to be who we have always been, good and bad, and some of us have become more comfortable with that than perhaps is good, but at the same time it is a profound sort of healing, just to be, here in this place, and all that entails.

Yeah, there's definitely that, too. How in hell do we keep alla this pressure up on the powers that be to effect good, lasting change for all here without losing good blogging commentators in the process?
