Which is it?

In Wednesday's article we were told that Odom claimed Cerasoli spent over $600k on computer equipment.

In today' article that number has dropped to $69,000.

Which is it?

I'm not busting balls, I just want to know if Odom is pulling numbers out of his hat or if we're talking about two completely separate computer systems.....or what. 69k for 33 people is not "extravagant". ...690k....that deserves some splainin'.

And how did Tracie Washington get into this? How does Tracie get into everything for that matter?

Once again...from the moment this office was created, there are people who have been attempting to bring it down. I am curious if Odom is just pissed and attempting to throw the anchor chain around the neck of the entire department or if there is a larger effort to discredit the OIG.

UPDATE: Somehow...I completely missed this article. Actually I know how I missed it...because NOLA.com really needs to reconsider how they are indexing stories and how what's printed in the TP is translated to the website....just my two cents.

Well, this might seem a bit far-fetched but reading on Nola.com the related articles on the OIG I am getting the impression that there is a push underway to completely discredit the office in order to prevent its investigation into city contract fraud.

This article might give you an idea of who I suspect of being a major motivator, if not the chief orchestrator of said push:

Just sayin.

Well, of course. But...back to Odom's motivation...is this just piss and vinegar or has he been influenced by the Naginites or other forces?

Where did this come from?

“Those investigations should include, but not be limited to, whether any former, or current, member of the Ethics Review Board or employee of the OIG has, or had, financial or business ties, or is related in any other way, to any of the vendors that sold the OIG computer and other equipment.”

So you all do know that Nagin sent some of his staff, his staff from the city, out to campaign for Jefferson the last time Dolla Bill was running, right?

People are saying "He's a fool! He's a boob!" all the time now, but the fact is, he's still running up bills, so pay close attention to his manouvers.

The pro-Nagin, anti-Cerasoli comments under the stories at nola.com, the interviews with friendly press, and all the other anti-IG stuff that popped up coincidentally the week after all the resignations, and right after the civil trial for the IT mess began are 'media war' political moves. Of course they are.

The bond issue as a political move was explained a little under another Zombie post, and it would be fantastic if knowledgable anon could keep his eyes peeled and let us know who's getting the money.

The driving force behind the IG drama is Len Odom’s ego. He was upset that the ERB didn’t allow him keep the job on an interim basis until Cerasoli’s term ran out in 2011. He cared only about power and influence. He didn’t care about New Orleans – it just happens to be a place where he stumbled into the prospect of power and influence by rubbing elbows with the Mayor, certain hyphenated council members, and a certain incompetent police chief. And he was jealous of the public perception that Cerasoli was twice the IG Odom could ever be. He had the mindset of the scorned lover – if he couldn’t have the office, no would else could.

Nagin is seizing this as an opportunity to promote his anti-transparency, turn-the-other-way-while-I-empty-the-City-treasury agenda and go on the attack against the agency that can actually do something about it. But even if you accept everything in that report as fact – and you can’t – there’s just not enough fire to justify the amount of smoke being blown around.

Jarvis Deberry also turned in a real stinker of a column today against the O.I.G.

All of his articles are either right on point, or totally false drivel that makes you wonder how dumb the Times-Pic editorial staff is for letting it by.

Small note- Reread DeBerry's column. I misread it and it turns out to have been on the mark.
