It's a catchy tune..

...the con-profit beat seems to be the zeitgeist:

Arrest may allow for removal of Algiers eyesore

Non-profit unable to honor commitment turning blight into low-income housing

But the one con-profit related story I'd like you to read comes from our bud SOP from Slabbed:

It’s elementary my dear Watson. This is a “crime family” affair. Slabbed takes a look at a recent earmark/charity looting in Jefferson Parish. Part 1 a few of the key players.

JP Councilperson Byron Lee....the Jefferson Sports and Scholastic Foundation...River Birch...

...I'm pretty sure SOP is on to something.

Also keep in mind that Byron Lee's hands have been pretty full as of late, being Cedric Richmond's "handler" and right hand man.  Although word is if he can keep Cedric's nose clean (pfftt..sorry...I've had a cold) through the election, he'll be rewarded handsomely at the big show (D.C.)...perhaps even being named CR's chief of staff.

I can't wait.

The West Bank/JP side of Bill Jffereon's operation is well under-documented.

Bill Jefferson regularly got support and endorsements from Aaron Broussard and Harry Lee.

The ballot fixing (messing with voter machines, computer and otherwise) is a long tradition in the JP. See Susan Bernecker & Richard Angelico for that.

The west bank krewe of Alario & Co. also are well tied to the whole thing.

Marcellos -> Georges -> Wards/Heebe/Sneeds/Cappella.... etc., etc., etc.

JP has long been Orleans' wild rural backyard county where anything went and still does.

Agreed. But in the coming month I think we're about to see a reckoning in JP. Slabbed has nailed or at least skirted so many issues, I think we're about to see the first wave of change sweep through Jefferson.

And thanks for bringing Susan Berneker back up. One of the reasons I ignore election cycles on this blog is because I'm convinced that voter fraud is rampant in the NO metro area. I think votes are fixed much more often than we would care to believe. Bernaker was the most egregious example and one of the only times the fraud was exposed.
