Subtle moments in political jockeying...

political...judicial.....corporate?  I give up....

..perhaps...no...I'm sure...you didn't notice this little item in the Baton Rouge based Business Report yesterday:

Three B.R. attorneys recommended for Tyson replacement

Why do I mention this article?

Lipsey, 59, is a partner in McGlinchey Stafford. She earned her bachelor's and law degrees from LSU. She has served on the Louisiana Public Defender Board, and she teaches ethics and professionalism as an adjunct law professor at LSU.
Hmmm....just so happens that Lispsey is the head lawyer representing Ciber in the Camsoft civil suit.  As a matter of fact....she was the lead Ciber lawyer in the Active/Southern lawsuit as well.

Who nominated her?

Sen. Mary Landrieu has recommended three Baton Rouge attorneys to President Barack Obama as possible replacements for U.S. District Judge Ralph Tyson, who died in July.
Why is that important?

Remember when I asked you guys if you knew anything about this law firm?

Is Sen. Landrieu connected to Patton Boggs in any way?  Is Tropos or Ciber connected to Patton Boggs in any way?

Hmmmm......

IMMEDIATE UPDATE:

I really love AZ readers.  Thanks Anon....

DRC Emergency Services again.

We've seen them before. Who are they, again? I think we might know who they are, but there is more than one group that calls itself DRC.

And Benetech is there, of course.

I hope that no member of the Aaron Bennett experience is part of that port security outfit!

Miss. Mary renewed Mr. Letten's contract. I like Letten, and I am grateful to her for doing this.

However, when I look at this list, I have concerns.

I know that both Vitter and Moon's little girl gave back the money their campaigns had received from Aaron Bennett, but this list reveals that the connections run pretty deep. It seems as if it wasn't just through Benetech that the same old crowd was sending money Mary's way.

Are they going to be pursued and prosecuted diligently despite the many ways they find of donating money to the politicians who might hold the 'get out of jail free' cards?

It is a neat trick. Earn a tax funded salary; use your insider position to funnel tax funded contracts to your friends in private business.

Make sure to pad the contract so you get a little something-something, and then get a salary from your private business "side work".

If your business associates in this sexy public-private partnership can employ your spouse, so much the better.

Hey, if you can get some of that money back by working as a staffer or in a contract position on an election campaign, good job.

In any case, use some of the money the tax payers gave you to make a donation to the politicians on either side of the imaginary line.

That way, if you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar, no one will investigate or prosecute you zealously, because if you go down, everyone loses face Penn State style.

Pay no attention to the children in the locker room, or their functional equivalent on rooftops or in crumbling prisons/schools.

A couple of afternoons a month doing volunteer work, preferably with some group that will look great on a resume, and some nice (tax funded, when you get right down to it) donations to local charities, and the whole world will call you a public benefactor.

The old, sad fact that the money originally came out of the their pockets will be forgotten once the good parties start up again.

Did I get that right? Is that how it goes?
