Never play poker with a guy named after a city...

....or a guy running a city.

Hey, you know city council elections are on the horizon.  I've been hearing a few interesting names being thrown around for the At Large races but the one that intrigues me the most is District C.

C is currently held by Kristen Palmer but I think Palmer may be running for an At Large spot.  State Rep. Jeff Arnold has expressed his interest in C but the candidate that intrigues me the most for C is former Civil Court Judge, Nadine Ramsey...yeah, the same person mentioned in the previous post.

Word has it that my old buddies Ike Spears and C-note Richmond are quietly floating Ramsey's name around for the coveted District C spot.  I'm guessing Nadine would be seeking out Mayor Landrieu's endorsement and support as well and considering C-note and Ike are behind her I would imagine she'll have a good chance of getting it.

It will be interesting to see how the chips fall on this one.

Are you suggesting that Ramsey and Mitch may have an arrangement in place regarding Wisner matters and a favorable ruling for the City in exchange for backing on the city council run by Nadine Ramsey?

You said that, I didn't say that. But I like the way your mind works.

Half Moon endorsements for the 2014 City Council races are easy to pick.
At large- palmer and morrel (Anybody but head is the half moon mantra)
A: Guidry will not run but Abramson will and endorse palmer and morell n xchange for a half moon endorsement)
B: Cantrell easy win
C: Ramsey easy win
D: Morell and half moon`s hand picked candidate
E: Gray all the way

Do you work for Caesar's?

Having had quite a bit of experience with Judge Ramsey, I can tell you that she is fair and even-keeled. I was pleasantly surprised to see her on the bench recently.

If city council turns out to be: Palmer/Hedge-Morrell,Ramsey, Gray, and Abramson then the city will see a mass exodus of population and businesses again. Cantrell will be the next Stacy Head targeted by the Landrieu administration and will be ineffectively outvoted every time.

Start packing up the bags for Houston because New Orleans will be the next Detroit with these stewards at the helm.

The issue for me, as I've stated before, is the Mayor's willingness to subvert democracy in order to get what he wants. We saw it with Bajoie, we've seen it over and over. Now, I'm worried it may go beyond democracy and into the realm of the judiciary and that is a whole other ball of wax.

The statement above, "Ramsey is fair and even-keeled"...then she should know better than to accept an Ad Hoc postion on the CDC when she has a political ambition to run for City Council. At the very least, she should have recused herself from signing any legal document with the Mayor and City being listed as a litigant, much less actually preside over the hearing.

Not taking a position as an Ad Hoc judge when you are planning on running for City Council would have been the "fair and even-keeled" thing to do. Now that she has....not running for political office would be the "fair and even-keeled" thing to do.

I'm not Pollyana, I know what goes on in the CDC, I wrote a 3 part series on it in respect to the Mortgage and Conveyance crash. But placing yourself on the bench when you clearly have political aspirations for City Council and clearly require political patronage from people involved in cases you would be presiding over is not "fair and even-keeled" It's just bullshit.

And in case I didn't mention it, Ramsey signed the countermotion filed by the City and Mitch. She was clearly intending to preside over the case.

Jason

Just because she may run for the Council does not rise to the level of the appearance of impropriety which may require her recusal. Also, just because she signed the rule to show cause setting it for hearing does not mean she intends to hear the motions. As you point out, her appointment will likely expire before the hearing.

Ramsey ran for mayor AGAINST Landrieu. If he wanted his way over Wisner, which I do not doubt and as expressed so well in your work, believe me, Medley is much more inclined to Landrieu's position. I'm not a supporter of Ramsey, but think you've read too much in on this one. If I'm wrong, i will admit it.

"As you point out, her appointment will likely expire before the hearing."

The date was set for yesterday, July 26, she would have presided over it...period...if not for the attorneys requesting an extension. So that's incorrect.

"Ramsey ran for mayor AGAINST Landrieu. If he wanted his way over Wisner, which I do not doubt and as expressed so well in your work, believe me, Medley is much more inclined to Landrieu's position."

Ramsey didn't run AGAINST Landrieu, in my opinion. She did run, but not to win. And anyone who is being backed by Ike Spears and Cedric Richmond is suspect to impropriety...you want to argue that one with me?

And this does rise to the level of impropriety...I don't know how you think it doesn't. How many City Council members have been tagged for "impropriety" in the past few years or even indicted? Was Sonja Spears guilty of "impropriety"? Do you have any idea what really goes on behind the scenes of the CDC? You want to see an example?

In case you didn't read the three part series I did on the mortgage and conveyance crash, at least read part 3:

http://nola.humidbeings.com/posts/detail/197379/A-Tangled-Web

A short synopsis, the CDC judges were illegally charging and receiving funds for online access to court documents. They had cut their IT budget to the core and the IT Director, Tania Landry, had begged them to upgrade the IT system. They ignored her and as a result they damn near lost every mortgage and conveyance record back to 1983.

They then threw her under the bus to hide their own "impropriety" and mis-dealings. They fired her, she went into foreclosure on her house and was forced to move her and her daughter to Houston to find work. I still stay in contact with her and what they did to her to save their own asses is abhorrent.

Watch this video of three of the CDC judges outright LYING to City Council to cover their own asses...yes LYING TO CITY COUNCIL...

http://vimeo.com/19489893

Now...watch this interview with Landry of what the protocol actually was:

http://vimeo.com/19489875

They lied and threw this poor girl under the bus to cover their asses. The Clerk was responsible for IT purchases, not the judges. Unfortunately Atkins sat there like a stump on a log and allowed them to lie.

To say Medley is more inclined to Landrieu's position is based on what? My point is that this case landed in Div. D...Medley's court. Assuming Medley is at least half-way just, he understands the case better than an Ad Hoc judge thrown in at the last second. Also, I plan on filling that court room up with AZ readers to watch what happens....so if nothing else, this case will face the court of public opinion as well. If anything egregious happens, it will be "televised".

Maybe I am reading too much into this but at every turn, Landrieu has pulled political puppet strings to get what he wants. I don't know if that is the case here, but I am going to call it out every time I see any inkling of it. And as far as the CDC...after what I learned in the above story...the whole entity is suspect.

You can even pull out the old "conspiracy theorist" tag if you want. I was called that with Meffert, I was called that with Nagin, I was called that with Bennett, I was called that with Fradella, I was called that with BP, I am being called that with the Wisner story.....go ahead and throw it out again.

I'll let the blog's track record speak for itself.

If you want to discuss it privately, email me or you can even call me.

Oh and I was called that with Ellis, by Ellis himself...very publicly I might add.

Correction...Landry's house wasn't foreclosed and she moved to Houston.
