Deal seems Clean....Zombie eats Crow

I have received rather detailed responses to my questions posed to Mr. Ciccarelli regarding the MediaBuys contract to shoot the television special for Mardi Gras.

It would seem I was, in fact, off base with my speculation. Here are the basics which put my concerns to bed:

- The contract was acquired as an RFP

- I'm not completely clear on this, but it appears to be a commision based contract contingent on sponsorships

- Collins is not going to be involved in the production and will not personally profit from the production (this will be easy enough to check on).

Those were the issues I was mostly worried about and I fully admit I drew conclusions based on my own speculation. It would seem I was wrong, wrong, and wrong again. Bad Zombie....shame on me. I lost my top hat, tails and my bed....I've had to move to another grave.

As to the logic of televising Carnival with sponsorships...I will leave that up to you. Here are some links I was provided if you are interested in learning more about it:

Here is a link to the Focus Group which is overseeing the "taste" of the program:

And here is a link to the broadcast package which details the show:

I would like to thank Mr. Ciccarelli for the conversation, it appears he is not a snake and therefore the Zombie has no dominion.

As for Nagin and his crew....their asses are still slithering in my pit.

that's ok zombie. ernest collins has roughed up enough people around here to have us all on the defensive about everything that happens in the arts & entertainment realm. i'm glad this isn't one such situation apparently. glad you're still raising questions though. one can only hope the inspector general has his/her day with ole ernest in the months ahead.

Admitting error in public, making a retraction, eating crow as you put it; these are the things thatmaintain a man's reputation. These are the qualities of someone to listen to.

Only a REAL MAN would do so.

BTW, nice running int you on Prytania this morning!

It's encouraging to see someone put truth and fairness above ego. A quality to be admired. Keep up the good work!

It was a big of you to eat crow, but as long as the mayor conducts business without a shred of transparency, he should expect every move he makes to be questioned. If you're dealing with money rather than national security, you need to be forthcoming. If every single deal that the Nagin administration ever made turned out to be totally honest with no cronyism involved, I certainly don't think anyone would owe Nagin an apology.

BTW, I only think secrecy in the name of security can go so far.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Its nice to know they actually know how to handle Public Relations.

I'm impressed with them, I hope they do a good job.

I still think its a goofy idea.

mominem,

I agree...I think the idea is kind of goofy. But apparently the way it's structured, it couldn't hurt. As long as they do it well, it could be beneficial.

Just like Loki said, a person who admits error is someone to listen to (b/c s/he has some fucking sense).

Keep at it, Dambala. There are plenty of snakes out there still.
