My favorite moments of yesterday's game

I went to the illustrious Kingpin yesterday to watch the game, where the patron's are always outspoken, even on the commercials.

My favorite moments:

1. When they showed footage of Katrina, the entire bar erupted in boo's and hisses....even more so than the poor officiating the Saints suffered in the first half.

2. Every time Reggie Bush would run back and forth and go nowhere, there was a cacophony of utter disdain. I think Dirty Coast is gonna have to take the "Bush we can all agree on" shirt out of production. Bush hating is now becoming a thing. When Bush did perform, the crowd was conspicuously quiet.

3. Every time the Saints score the bar plays Maxine Gayle's "Get right back to where we started from" at full blast. Don't ask why, but it totally works. Even the big, burly guys are all clapping in sync.

4. Driving home and remembering that I have a case of Abita riding on the Saint's to win 2 out of 3 games including yesterday's game, the Jets, and the Giants. I'm one game up with one to go. I'm pretty sure we're going to beat the Jets...damn....that's what happens when you bet against your own team. As I pointed out before...Pete Rose didn't even bet against his own team...what kind of fan does something like that?

I was at the Kingpin last week and my friends were there this week. The big takeaway from that place during a game is the one particularly gargantuan Saints fan that really relishes the free food. He also has a sweet mustache, farts a lot, and screams PUMMEL really really loud at often inappropriate times during the game. He's a 10 out of 10 and makes my appearance during future Saints game at the Kingpin all the more likely.

once again, i couldn't wait to see how the media would portray our boys after the game. and once again, they gave us 30 seconds of air time.

i have no idea why i do this to myself. Grrr.....

Special request: Can someone post a "M Watch"- for times and location of the Meffert trial, so interested parties can go and see justice served?

Thanks!!!

Played the song, read the comment about the farting guy who shouts "PUMMEL!", and it sounds like the Kingpin is a great place to watch Saints football.

Will you care about the sketchy goings on at City Hall now that football season has started?

of course I care.

All work and no play makes Dambala an irritated snake god. roll with it man.

FWIW, I think the Jets match up better against the Saints than the Giants. I was never on the Bush bandwagon, but I'm getting sick of the Bush hatred -- it's reached a ridiculous level in some quarters. Not claiming I had the foresight to predict he'd be a bust, but I never predicted great things either.

Also,I believe he likes to yell VEGAS! F*CKING VEGAS! See, a tie-in to your previous post.

Jason Brad Berry said...

yeah, I've actually had the Vegas discussion with him. I honestly tend to agree with that notion when it comes to the refs keeping games close.

The "Bush hatred" evidently isn't "ridiculous" enough... or at least isn't coming from the appropriate quarters since the little fuck is still on the damn team.

Anyway I still don't think I'm going to lose this bet. Sunday's game means that even if I win, we're still above .500 when it happens so things are looking good.

Any specific style of Abita.. just in case?

I prefer Abita Light, You?

And to your credit, I would peg you as the consummate Bush Basher....you were singing that tune long ago when everyone else was still googely-eyed over him. When was your first Bush bashing post? Let's get a date and see if anyone else can beat it.

such a cryptic thread on an otherwise joyous thread....

Is that a death threat?

Back to more pleasant matters.

If I get a chance to root around the blog for complaints about Bush at USC (which very well may exist) I might do that later. This looks like the earliest blatant complaint about him as a Saint (10/2/06)

Here I am in April of 2006 saying that Mario Williams is the best player available in the draft.

I'm still trying to figure out if that was directed at you or me, J. I'm assuming me unless you've somehow managed to piss off someone in the Saints management. Probably a tech guy who can't figure out what thread to post in and he's mad at me cause he lost his job.

Anonymous who lost his job, I'm assuming you're serious and not some joker pretending to be Bush making anonymous comments.

If you're a low level guy who lost his job with either the city or one of the companies ripping off the city, you have my sympathy. You really do. I lost my job when the city ran out of money, so I know what it's like. Now, the Times Picayune is calling for more city employees to lose their jobs for budget reasons. So, as much as I sympathize, do you really think those corrupt contracts (that Dambala shed a light on) are harmless?

Whoa.

I didn't grow up in the USA, and I never had a football team affiliation. Because of who I'm now related to, I am a newbie Saints fan.

Someone even sent my baby girl a very tiny newborn-sized cheerleader outfit, which seemed very strange, but hey, "when in Rome."

I would have had to embrace whatever team X supported, but it is most excellent to have lucked out with the Saints!

I'm still trying to understand the rules to football. Sometimes it seems boring for a while until something dramatic happens. But the team colors and the logo and the fan culture of the Saints are really great.

I don't understand what is happening most of the time, but I can appreciate the skill and athleticism of the really great plays.

So I was just happily reading the comments here, and then someone posted that messed up threat!

WTF?

Threat-making guy, if upper management wherever you worked was doing something bad, you should have been blowing the whistle or looking for a new job.

You no doubt also pay taxes. This blog helps you. If you were working for people who were part of robbing the city, you were robbing yourself.

Best of luck with the job search.
