Heads up

Subject: Climate & Clean Energy Forum Wednesday evening

CLEAN ENERGY FOR LOUISIANA
New Orleans Citizens Come Together to Discuss Clean Energy Legislation and Alternatives for Louisiana and the Nation.

On December 2, 2009, New Orleans citizens will come together to discuss the future of clean energy for Louisiana at Loyola University. Hosted by Loyola University Community Action Program, the Sierra Club, Focus the Nation and Natural Awakenings Magazine the panel will feature Jordan Macha, Beyond Coal Louisiana Coordinator for the Sierra Club, John Atkeison, Climate and Clean Energy Director of Alliance for Affordable Energy, Troy Von Otnott, President of Southcoast Solar LLC and others to discuss global climate change, Louisiana’s energy challenge, the need for coastal restoration and how our community can best address it. The panel will be moderated by Laura Nevitt of Repower Louisiana.

The world is ready to strike a global climate deal this December in Copenhagen at the COP15 UN climate treaty negotiations. However, all eyes are on the U.S. as federal legislation is pending in the Senate this fall. The international community will not sign a deal unless the U.S. comes to Copenhagen having achieved climate leadership at home in the House and Senate.

Focus The Nation has been working with young organizers across the country to achieve engagement with local representatives on a National Day of Action. Organizing Clean Energy Forums in 25 key states this fall, Focus the Nation hopes to help voters galvanize their voices in direct dialogue with their Senators and top climate and energy staffers. Participants at each Forum will produce a Clean Energy Action List that Focus the Nation organizers and voters will then deliver to Senate offices, the White House and to the international community at the COP15 negotiations this December in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is time to raise the profile and voice of local American communities in the international climate debate.

WHO: Jordan Macha, Beyond Coal Louisiana Coordinator for the Sierra Club, John Atkeison, Climate and Clean Energy Director of Alliance for Affordable Energy, Troy Von Otnott, President of Southcoast Solar LLC and others to address solutions to our energy challenges.
Moderated by Laura Nevitt of Repower Louisiana.

WHEN: Wednesday, December 2, 2009
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

WHERE: Loyola University Campus
Nunemaker Auditorium, Monroe Hall
6363 St. Charles Ave at Calhoun St.
New Orleans, LA

Not so fast on that climate change deal. Seems a few hacked emails may have let this genie out of her bottle.

This is not to say we do not have some serious wetland issues, we do. I have no problem with seeking nuclear and solar energy, it makes sense. However, the cap and trade plan needs to be buried before this nonsense goes any further.

Burnell Moliere still getting City contracts, despite being a convicted felon.

The same characters from NOPS rearing their head over and over.
