Hell to the....hmmmmmm???

On the eve of the last day of candidate qualifications, let's take a look at some rumors swirling in the political aether.

First, what's Arnie Feelgood got cooking? Yeah his peeps are saying don't worry he's going to run...but I just ain't buying it. I think there's some scheming going on.

Scenario 1: He doesn't qualify and Ready Eddie Sapir jumps in to claim the At-Large throne....

...unlesss

Scenario 2: Shelley Midura rocks the house and throws her hat in at the 11th hour. Crazy talk? Maybe....but I'm hearing faint echos this one may have legs.

Secondly, who's hanging in for the mayor's race in light of Mitch's decision to run? Georges...certainly. In light of his recent investment in Galatoire's, I thought for a second he may actually be taking my caterer barbs to heart and starting a new career...but now I'm thinking his strategy is to buy every restaurant in town and only serve frozen, store bought food unless we vote for him.

So the real question is what does Leslie do? My prediction is she stays in and gives it her best shot, a sentiment her camp has already expressed to da paper. She's not one to back off a fight and I figure she'll plow forward. The 100 to 1 bet is that she may back off the mayor's seat and run for At Large or even District A....but my spidey sense ain't tingling over that notion.

The 500 to 1 scenario would be James Perry backs out and runs for the District C seat or even At Large....but I seriously, seriously doubt that.

Lastly, will there be any totally outrageous surprise entries into the fray on any of the seats? Like DJ Soul Sistah runs for mayor. Or maybe District A gets a surprise candidate.

Hmmm....we'll know tomorrow.

UPDATE: Eli seems to be confident the Sapir fix is in.

UPDATE 6:35 p.m. : Da Paper disagrees...isn't this fun? Now, the question is, does he intend to run and finish an entire 4 year term or is he going to drop out?

What's up with politics and restaurants these days?

Did I read the TP correctly that Landrieu more or less piggybacked his announcement on the event at Cafe Reconcile?

He just kind of jumped in with the guerrilla announcement in front of Murray and everybody and then let the show get back to business?

That wasn't even his dime?

Manga, manga, everybody!

Anon, it's the "chicken in every pot" transmogrified into "let 'em eat every New Orleans dish they can get their hands on". And it goes for more than just food.

I will be packing up and leaving the state of Louisiana if Eddie Sapir is elected as well. I would be more content with a Nagin 3rd term than Sapir in office. Both of which make me sick to my stomach.
