the sad part of it is the citizens united decision is only going to make it that much easier for corporations to buy gov't.i thought republicans were against "activist judges"...LOL..
Nobody writes better than Taibbi. I think the fact that he tackles this opaque subject matter in his bright, colorful, voice is the single greatest act of journalism currently on display anywhere. "Dr. Ballsachs" Now that's pretty fucking funny.
In case you missed this earlier article - http://trueslant.com/matttaibbi/2010/01/27/populism-just-like-racism/#post_comments Bruthaman1 - can you give a link to the decision?
I guess this is as good a post as any to leave you this heads-up...I can't believe this hasn't made the local news. I can only imagine what Georges would do with this insane information?[In the note, Stack said he longs for a big "body count" and expresses the hope that "American zombies wake up and revolt."]http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/20/AR2010022002862.htmlJus'sayin... we got yer'back, Mon.
yeah I know, I saw it the moment it was published. I didn't create the meme "American Zombie", but I own it on Google...along with Grace Lee's film. And I'm pretty sure I never advocated crashing a plane into an IRS building...so I'm not worried about it. I think the most hateful thing I ever said was I told Nagin he should drink a bottle of Windex (transparency metaphor). I don't think that makes me a "terrorist" but you never know these days. Folks are flying fast and loose with that moniker.
We might ask Adrastos who first coined that term in pulp fiction. The book Serpent and the Rainbow (not the American Zombified movie) goes into pretty good detail on the marketing of the racial meme in early American entertainment. But for me the semantic debauchery in evidence here strikes me as just down right titillating. I mean, this is American, right? We can have an army of Zombies marching on Washington... right? I'm always careful about what I advocate on my own blog, due mainly to this one episode of 24, where they already had this guy's suicide rant laid out on his facebook page before they set him up...hey! Anyway... I am on record for screaming that Ray Nagin get a Pie in his Face.
Among the people who think that bloggers are *dangerous peoples* who deserve to be sued or worse, "terrorism" means "Making me feel afraid or inadequate, and/or exposing what I'm up to." There are real terrorists, and the things they do are horrifying. I just do not understand why anyone, no matter how broken or angry, would respond the way they do to the stresses of life. But I find the way powerful (but weak inside) people use that term to frighten normal people and to stifle dissent scary, too.
