When is the Wisner case being heard and is open to the public?

Funny you should ask that Anon.  The hearing for the summary judgement was set for July 26, this Friday, in Orleans Civil District Court, Division D.  That would have placed it square in the lap of Ad Hoc Civil Court Judge, Nadine Ramsey, who is sitting in for Judge Lloyd Medley until mid-August.

However, both parties agreed to an extension which was filed on July 18th so the summary judgment will be heard sometime in August and presumably under Judge Medley assuming he returns at the anticipated date.  I will keep you up to date on when that first hearing will be and yes, it is open to the public...I encourage you to come.

This countermotion filed by the Mayor and the City is a big deal.  If a judgment was made in their favor, not only would it eliminate the Salvation Army, Tulane, LSU and the Heirs from any claim to the property, it would absolve the JV attorneys from any potential malpractice suit in the Wisner Trust's litigation with BP over the damage to the property caused by the oil spill.  That would be pretty convenient for the JV attorneys as I've pointed out numerous issues with how they have handled the case.

If campaign contributions mean anything, take a peek at Judge Medley's donors in 2008 and 2009. You'll see the names of the City's lawyers, as well as Pat Juneau's recent lawyers.

Yeah I'm aware but you and I both know that all the CDC judges are getting campaign contributions from trial attorneys. That's the M.O.

I'm not sure we can pluck Medley out of the pack. I'm hoping Medley has some iota of integrity.
