16.3 million

Not exactly the windfall they were probably expecting, but a victory nonetheless.

Before anyone starts buying boats and houses....this whole thing is going back into court per Camsoft so the victory may be fleeting.

But, now that this trial is over....get ready for the hammer to drop on Meffert and St. Pierre. I heard rumors that Meffert has been bragging that he's not going to jail. That could be one of two things, 1. He's flipped on Nagin. 2. He's outrageously arrogant and delusional.

I would say scenario 2 is the most likely. Of course both scenarios may be possible. I think we'll know by the end of the week. I'm sure he will blame everyone else around him for any wrongdoing...we'll see.

Plaintiffs lawyers were a bad selection in this case. They should have brought in some really good attorneys and the result would have been at least one hundred million.

I can't wait for C. Ray to be led out of City Hall in handcuffs.

i doubt it. these plaintiffs were no angels -- do you really feel good about some local company charging the city (us) what, $30,000 a camera for the same off-the-shelf shit dell charged 5k for? theres a reason the post-meffert dude dropped them like a hot potato.

also heard they earned the citys scorn by trying to charge the city bogus invoices.

the notion that this mom-and-pop LA electronics company could have made billions had the evil city/dell/meffert not stolen their toys is absurd.

they sued for billions to walk home with millions. happens every day.

...the sooner everybody realizes ANYTHING pertaining to crime cameras is a BAD IDEA, the better off we'll all be.

From everything I've seen from Meffert, I'd place money on the ignorant, arrogant option.

I think the jury got it about right.

There is no realistic possibility that the plaintiffs could have captured the market for crime cameras, Any number of companies are out there pushing this stuff and the Plaintiffs didn't impress me as particularly marketing savvy.

On the other had Meffert and company were out to screw them.

One consistent patter which emerges is tha city finances are so screwed up you have to know somebody to get paid.

So, is anyone connected to the Nagin administration going to be able to find work after he's out of office, or will they all be on welfare?
